It's not something we like to think about, but creating a Will is important - no matter what stage of life you are at. Often people assume that their assets will automatically go to a partner or their children, but this might not always be the case. A Will ensures that people and things that matter to you are taken care of after you're gone. With your help, we can ensure that the Lloydminster and District SPCA will always be here for animals in need.

There are a variety of ways you can help the animals through your Will including:

  • Donations of Securities
  • Trusts
  • Specific Bequests
  • Residue of Estate

In preparing your Will, you should seek the assistance of a Trustee or your family solicitor to
ensure that your wishes are clearly and correctly recorded.

DONATIONS OF SECURITIES

Stocks, bonds and securities is a contribution based on your investment which can be transferred to the Lloydminster and District SPCA on your behalf.

TRUSTS

A relationship created at the direction of an individual, in which one or more persons hold the individual’s property subject to certain duties to use and protect it for the benefit of the Lloydminster and District SPCA.

SPECIFIC BEQUESTS

Designed to your specific wishes when it comes to transferring ownership of your remaining estate to the Lloydminster and District SPCA.

RESIDUE OF ESTATE

Residuary bequests are used to give all or a portion of the rest, residue, and remainder of your estate after payment of expenses and any specific amounts designated to other beneficiaries.

ANIMALS IN YOUR WILL

For animal owners, knowing that your companions will be cared for after you pass away
is a key concern.

The good news is that you can make sure your pets are cared for by including a
clause in your Will nominating a family member or the Lloydminster and District SPCA
as guardians. In the event of your passing, the nominated party can ensure that
your pet is cared for, and in the case of the Lloydminster and District SPCA,
ensure they find a loving new home.

THE SPCA LEGACY SOCIETY

The SPCA Legacy Society is a special group of donors who have chosen to include a gift to the Lloydminster and District SPCA in their Will.

Pledging a gift in your Will guarantees you a membership to the Legacy Society. With your membership, you receive many privileges including:

  • Invitations to SPCA Special Events
  • Assistance with your remaining animals
  • A living memorial acknowledging your contribution, through your Will
